Epic Fornite Legal Apple: Its WAR!
Epic Games, developer of Fortnite, is on a roll! Someone has decided to go “epic” and has said that enough is enough. In the last couple of days, Epic Games and Apple locked horns and now the courts are involved.
All hell broke loose when Epic Games introduced a new payment method in Fortnite which bypassed Apple and its 30% fee, and not just that Epic also offered discounts to players if they purchased directly from them.

But this step from Epic Games breached Apple’s App Store policies and in turn, Apple responded aggressively and went all out on Epic Games by completely removing it from their App store.
But Epic Games had anticipated that move and shortly after the removal from Apple App Store, Fortnite Party Royale short, Nineteen Eighty Fortnite was announced, a play based on the Apple’s ad for the Macintosh.
But it wasn’t just limited to all fun and play, shortly after the stunt, Epic announced on Twitter that they have filed legal papers against Apple.
The detail of the lawsuit started off referring to the same 1984 ad, “cast Apple as a beneficial, revolutionary force breaking IBM’s monopoly over the computing technology market.” The irony here is unmistakable, “Apple has become what it once rallied against: the behemoth seeking to control markets, block competition, and stifle innovation.”
The lawsuit further goes on by saying that how Apple creates a system that helps maintain its stronghold on the iOS market and users. The lawsuit also includes allegations about unlawful practices for monopoly maintenance, illogical trade restraints, and denial of important facilities.
The important point here is that Epic’s step is not about money motivation but to shatter Apple’s monopoly and anti-competitive actions.
Fortnite’s removal from Apple App Store is just another example of arm twisting and muscle-flexing by Apple and to maintain its hegemonic designs over the iOS In-App Payment Processing Market.
