There are some jaw-dropping figures shared by the firm regarding mobile phone usage behavior. In the first half of this year, Google Play apps and iOS games were downloaded more than 64 billion times, this shows an increase of 5% year over year and 10% from the back half of the previous year. Moreover, consumer spending also increased by 10% in the second half of 2019.

The worldwide lockdowns resulted in people spending a lot of time on their phones, the average daily hours sky-rocketed with the as soon as lockdown started.

Russians spent an average of 3.5 hours a day which accounts for a 40% increase when compared to 2019. India increased by 37%, and Canada jumped 39% when compared to the previous year.

Many countries are showing a gradual increase in mobile phone usage hours but that is not the case with China and South Korea, both these countries have witnessed a dip in the second quarter as compared to the first. And the reason is clear; these two countries dealt with the pandemic early on.

Psychologists believe that it takes around 66 days to form a habit and thanks to the global pandemic app habits are solidifying and mobile phones are on its way to become an unshakeable and unbreakable part of our daily routines.
